God on the Mountain…

It’s easy to praise God when things are going good, but do we praise him in the midst of our trials? “God on the mountain is still God in the valley…” You can listen to Lynda Randle along with the Gaithers singing “God on the Mountain” here.

God On The Mountain

Words and Music by Tracy G. Dartt

Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain
And you’ve got peace of mind like you’ve never known.
But then things change and you’re down in the valley.
Don’t lose faith for you’re never alone.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

You talk of faith when you’re up on the mountain.
Oh but the talk comes easy when life’s at its best.
But it’s down in the valley of trials and temptation
That’s when faith is really put to the test.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

  1. I love this song too! Maybe you can encourage the choir to sing it one Sunday.

  2. i heard Lynde Randle sing this on Gather Hour one night an my how it got into my soul she sure can sing. God has blessed her with amazing voice

  3. Janet: I have always loved this song from the first time I heard the McCanny’s sing it and then Lynda Randle. Then Chandler and The Makeshift sang this song and I fell in love with it all over again. It does have special meaning for me and I love it.

  4. Hi Aunt Polly,

This is so cool–you commenting on my blog! Yes, the message of this song means a lot to me too, and it seems that this song touches many people.

I hope and pray that you and the rest of the family are doing well.

God Bless and Lots of Love,
    Janet

  5. Dear Janet,

I am a musician. My mother absolutely loves this song, due to it’s special meaning and sentimental value it has to her. Mother’s Day is rapidly rushing up, which leads me to my next and main question. I cannot seem to find any sheet music or tablature for a guitar, for this song. I am very much wanting to play and sing this song for my mother on her day, but am growing weary wondering if I am ever going to be able to find this music. If in any way you could help me in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for time, and god bless.

    Sincerely,
    Joshua T Watson

    Hi Joshua,

Just a quick note to let you know I’m “looking into it.” I did some research today…still working on it. May take me a couple of days to get back to you. I’ll be really busy the next couple of days. I’ll leave you another comment here on the blog if I find it.

Hope I can help…I’ll let you know.
    Blessings, Janet

  6. To Joshua:

If nothing else, my dad and/or I could probably figure out some basic guitar chords for the song. I know my dad has played through it before.

Again, I’ll let you know what I come up with.

    Blessings,
    Janet

  7. Dear Janet,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your Quick reply to the message I sent. In today’s world we hold so many time taking obligations, we find it hard to believe that we could fit anyhting else into our busy schedules. Which is why I say that rarely can one get such immediate help on some things.

Secondly WOW, either way sounds great. Anyway that you could assist me in this, would be a god send. I think its great that you have people that you could turn to if need be.

And thirdly but finally, take your time on this. There is no hurry at all. I can learn most songs in less than thirty minutes, and with mothers day still a good bit away there is no rush.

This really means alot to me, and I appreciate all of your help. I look foward to your next entry.

    Sincerely,
    Joshua T. Watson

Hi Sharon, I agree…it’s an awesome song, and it really touches my heart. I can definitely relate to the words of the song, and I need to remember that God will be with me through it all…all the circumstances…if I let Him!

  10. Thanks to Janet & Joshua for the link. I have been searching for sheet music so this wonderful song could be sung in nursing homes. God Bless.
