That Little Kerry!

That little Kerry has been at it again! He keeps the comments coming and the laughter hearty!

–The other day, little Kerry decides he will “help” with washing the dishes. Actually, he decides not just to help, but to do them himself. Of course, I would have no objection at all to some help, but Kerry gets a little “trigger happy” with the water sprayer. Since my floor and cabinets really don’t need a good soaking, I decide I better say something…

With a sigh of exasperation, I intelligently say: “Kerry, I think that’s enough. You don’t really know what you’re doing.”

Kerry simply replies with confidence: “Yes, I do. I’m cleaning the dishes!

–Yesterday, Kerry had already been told by “the Grandma who goes with the Grand Daddy” to put his candy away. However, Kerry was not listening…

Sarah speaks up and says, “Kerry you better put that candy away! Grandma told you to put it away.”

Kerry says, “Grandma’s not ‘the boss of my candy‘!”

“Oh, yes I am the boss of your candy, and I’m the boss of you too!” says Grandma.

Kerry quickly replies, “Oh, I’m sorry, Grandma–I-I-I didn’t know you were the boss of my candy!!”

–Today, Kerry comes in for a moment, from playing outside…

Kerry says to me, “These are for you.”

He then places several filthy rocks in my hand. …On his way back out the door, he says:

“Now be good Mommy…if you want more rocks everyday!!”

**P.S. Hey, I almost forgot–Happy New Year, everybody!

More on “The Great Treasure Hunt”

Last post, I gave a brief synopsis of what the kids did on Christmas Day. Below are some comments from the hunters of “The Great Treasure Hunt“:

Born Cynic #1: “I bet Grand Daddy made this whole thing up!” —Rachel

Natural Cynic #2: “Is there really a treasure?” —Little Kerry

The Gung Ho One: “I TOLD you there was a treasure!” —Sarah

Madam Complains-A-Lot (nearing her birthday and feeling old): “This feels like a 3 mile trek through the Himalayas! I’m certain the treasure could have been hidden closer-by!” —Mommy

One Who Must Be 13: “Oh no!! I think I’m sweating!!” —Heather

Scott got the video posted to You Tube, so I could embed it in this post. Check it out:

Looking For Hidden Treasure…

…And no, this time the title does not have some great metaphorical meaning. No, really, this post is about what the kids enjoyed doing on Christmas day. You see, their Grand-Daddy orchestrated this whole event with a hidden map, a fictional pirate, and a buried “hand-made” treasure chest full of delightful “bounty” for the kids. For months, my husband had been “setting the stage” by dropping hints at dinner and telling grandiose stories about the great “Captain Hornswagle” and his buried treasure…

Then, Heather (my 13 yr. old niece) was very instrumental in helping the kids “stumble upon” a “hidden” map… You just can’t imagine the EXCITEMENT of the “three amigos” (my Sarah and Kerry and my niece Rachel). Well, hey, you don’t have to just imagine their extreme enthusiasm. Instead, you may check out this video by clicking here.

P.S.  My husband Scott shot and edited the video of our great treasure hunting adventure.

Let There Be Peace On Earth

Yesterday morning at church, during the offering, Barbara played a beautiful familiar tune on the piano. This song has stuck with me ever since, and I wanted to share it with you. The song is called “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” There’s a good message in this song that we would all do well to follow every day; not just at Christmas. To me, the only missing element to this song however, is that before the “peace on earth can begin with me,” I must first accept the peace that comes from my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…

Let There Be Peace on Earth

(By Jill Jackson and Sy Miller)

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me;
Let there be peace on earth,
The peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father
Brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now;
With every step I take,
Let this be my solemn vow:

To take each moment and live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.

**Note: You may listen to this song here, and hey, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
