He’s Not Stealing This Christmas!

…Not this time…not this year…not this Christmas!!

Who or what am I referring to, you may ask. Well, I am referring to the devil wanting to steal our Christmas joy and peace! Any of you seen the kid’s T.V. Christmas special, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” ? Yeah, I thought you might have. Anyway, you see, to me, the devil is like the Grinch. Of course, he can’t stand Christmas, and he will do anything he can to take away from the true reason for the season! Of course, the devil also can’t stand all the “peace, joy, and goodwill” going around either! He will also do anything he can to distract us from Jesus; to get us focused on the wrong things. It is not hard to recognize when we are letting the evil one have his way. A good indicator is when we end up a “stressed out mess;” you know, like a jumbled, tangled ball of Christmas tree lights.

But as Christians, we know that there is only one perfect gift that brings joy and peace, and it doesn’t come wrapped up in a neat little box with a pretty red bow. You can’t even find “this perfect gift” by scouring every store within a hundred miles! In fact, you can’t purchase this special gift, and neither can any family member or friend. Christians know where to find this gift, but sometimes in all the “hustle and bustle” of the season, we lose sight of Him. The perfect gift doesn’t come wrapped in any box:

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. –Matthew 1:21
“…Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.–Luke 2:12

So, how about it? Are you with me? Let’s decide together not to let the devil or anyone else steal our Christmas joy! The evil one can’t take our peace, unless we let him! As for me, I still say, “not this time… not this year…not this Christmas!!
