Say Goodbye To Self!

“Say Goodbye To Self”

(By: Janet Chestnut, 10/30/08)

Say goodbye to “Self…”

And from her ways depart.

She cannot rule your life,

when Jesus owns your heart.

____________________________________

“Self” thinketh she knows best,

and she will fight to win…

But her lack of wisdom…

just leadeth her to sin.

____________________________________

“Self” seeketh her own gain,

but all she finds is loss.

She wants to have her way…

HE needs to be the boss.

____________________________________

God calls each one of us

to open up His Word.

Don’t listen to just “Self,”

but let HIS voice be heard.

____________________________________

So say goodbye to “Self.”

You have to tell her “No!”

You cannot fill her wants…

Her ways have GOT to go!!

  1. Hi Janet,

The busyness of life has kept me from visiting, but I’m glad I stopped by and read your awesome poem! How true that we need to die to ourselves. I believe it was the apostle Paul that said, “I die daily.” May God help us to live lives that are pleasing to Him.

    Blessings to you,

    Carol

    Hey Carol,

I sure know what you mean about the busyness of life…I haven’t had the time I’d like to update my blog and visit others, keep in contact, etc.

I’m certainly in agreement with you…I also pray that “God will help us to live lives that are pleasing to Him.” I realize more all the time how I must get “Self” out of the way in order to do that!

    Blessings, Janet
