Our Anniversary

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary…Scott and I have been married 13 yrs. (We first met about 23 yrs. ago.)  We had a wonderful anniversary.  We actually went out to dinner last night…just the two of us!! (Neither of us could remember the last time we’d done that, but we know it’s been years!! 🙂 Can you believe that?! )

I’m very thankful for my husband, for our life together, and for our family.

2 Yrs. I’ve Been At This…

…Yep, today marks 2 yrs. of blogging…Can you believe it?! When I think of my “blogoversary,” I automatically think about homeschooling too (this also makes over 3 yrs. that I’ve been homeschooling). You see, blogging and homeschooling have been intertwined for me. While I’ve been homeschooling, blogging has been a source of comfort & solace for me. It’s been an outlet and a way to help keep me feeling connected with the outside world.

Today reminds me of all the Lord has brought me through, all He has taught me, and how very much He has blessed my family and I. I am so thankful to God for allowing me this opportunity to home-school and to share it with others. I’m also very grateful for all the wonderful people I have met through this experience…so many followers of Christ and homeschooling moms, who have encouraged me along this journey.

S-O-O-O many times I’ve wanted to quit. So many times I’ve started to quit. Yes, countless times, I’ve almost given up…on blogging, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning…You name it.

I’m glad I didn’t. )

I appreciate all of you who have helped me to “hang in there.” Thanks for all your thoughtful words and prayers. You know who you are…and God knows. I pray that I can pass on to others what you have shown me…God’s love, strength, and courage.

May God bless you all!

“…Whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ–the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.–Philippians 3:7-14

Marriage Takes Three

A friend gave me a plaque that hangs on the wall, in the same place it’s been for a decade. I pass it several times daily, as I scurry around the house trying to get things done. This wonderful reminder is a poem about the key to a good marriage…

Marriage Takes Three us-cutting-cake001

(By: Beth Stuckwisch)

Marriage takes three to be complete;
It’s not enough for two to meet.
They must be united in love
By love’s Creator, God above.
Then their love will be firm and strong;
Able to last when things go wrong,
Because they’ve felt God’s love and know
He’s always there, He’ll never go.
And they have both loved Him in kind
With all the heart and soul and mind
And in that love they’ve found the way
To love each other every day.
A marriage that follows God’s plan
Takes more than a woman and a man.
It needs a oneness that can be
Only from Christ-
Marriage takes three.
